About Odhran

Hey there,

My name is Odhran McCorry and I am the owner and head trainer here at Personal Best PT in Newry. I specialise in 1:1 Personal Training but also accommodate small group Personal Training (2-5 people) and in the next few months you will see Newry’s best bootcamp coming your way.

Well personally when I was growing up I was NEVER happy with my body. I was a chubby kid most of my younger years and my granny even recently said I used to be a “wee pudge” when I was younger haha.

I remember never liking P.E at school and rarely was on the winning team at sports. I remember getting told off nearly every week by my P.E teacher for “forgetting” my P.E kit.

Around 6th form at school I began to experiment to weight training and running when my father bought me a membership to a local gym. I usually messed around with whatever was the workout of the month in whatever fitness magazine I picked up. These workouts made small changes to my physique but never got me the results I desired.

When I went to university to study Sport and Exercise Science and started to learn about the body and apply my findings to my training. Slowly but surely everytime I came back from a year at university I was a bit leaner and WAY more muscular.

The crazy thing was I got leaner once I stopped chopping and changing my workouts to include the latest ‘big thing’ in the fitness magazine or the latest hollywood movie workout. I stuck to what was working for me based on what I was reading from research papers and not in fitness magazines.

Since then I have researched the best training methods and applied these methods to my client’s workouts as well as my own. At the time of writing I am now down to 11% bodyfat and have a lot more muscle then ever. I couldn’t be happier.
